The CFOA is one of the many supporters of the PVA( Paralyzed Veterans Association)
The PVA recently had their Bass tournament and the CFOA was there to help. What a great event it was with all the Paralyzed Veterans and the many volunteers having a great time. Special thanks to CFOA members Paula Cowart, Mel Waters, Jeff Page, and Don and Verniece Newhauser for lending a hand.
How it works. The vets get there around 4 am along with the able bodied boat captains. Coffee and donuts then at 5 am the volunteers get into action. The volunteers are stationed. Some will help load the vets (physically lifting them into the boat), then some move the empty wheel chairs, some will drive the trucks, some will hand out water and ice and bag lunch, some will back the trailer/ boats in, some will disconnect the trailer then some will park the trucks and trailer. It is very well organized, but you can imagine how many people it takes to get this event going. Then the Vets go fishing and back at the docks at 3pm for everything in reverse and the weigh in. Then dinner and banquet.
